Day 23: Sun, Nov 6 -- Athens: Acropolis and Temple of Poseidon
Synopsis
First thing in the morning, we headed for the Acropolis, where we learned all of the historical sites in Greece are free on Sundays during the off-season. We toured around the Acropolis, then toured around the area, visiting the Roman Agora, the Temple of Olympic Zeus, the stadium of the first Olympics of the modern times, among other historical sites. The Athens’ marathon was finishing in the stadium while we were there. We then caught the bus to Cape Sunion where we caught the sunset at the Temple of Poseidon. We then headed back to Athens for our last night before catching our flight back to the states early the next morning.
