Day2: Sun, Oct 16 -- Mt. Olympus and Delfi
Synopsis
We woke up at about 7am and headed for Delfi, which is situated in the mountains just north of the Gulf of Corinth. Delfi is one of the most famous ancient sites in Greece and the ruins were quite extensive including a temple of Apollo, a theater and a track stadium. We also visited a nearby spring that the athletes bathed in before competition, a gymnasium where the athletes practiced, and the temple of Aphrodite. Afterwards we drove to Loutraki, where Jason’s conference was to start the next day, stopping at a Taverna along the way. The waitress did not speak much English and offered us our choice of vegetables, lamb, chicken, pork, or cow.
